TUESDAY’S PRE-GAME DAILY FANTASY UPDATE
Weather is once again wreaking havoc with Major League Baseball, and with Fantasy owners.
The game between the Cleveland Indians and Chicago White Sox has already been postponed, and another American League Central Division battle is in danger of being called off, too. The Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers are in severe jeopardy of not playing, too. Right now, it isn't raining at Comerica Park, or even in Wayne County. However, a huge shield of rain is marching in from the southwest, and has already entered Washtenaw County, which is about 30-45 minutes west of downtown Detroit. Look for rain to affect this game, and if it does start on-time, it is almost a certainty that there will be a rain delay. Really, team officials are trying to figure out if the game can go official (at least 4 1/2 innings). That's a tough call, as the wet stuff approaches fast. I'd shy away from all Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers for this one.

(*** - updated at 7:00pm ET - game start between the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers is being delayed by weather. Start time TBD.)
Things are looking less gloomy down the road in Cincinnati, where the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds are set to square off at 7:10pm ET. Rain and thunderstorms looked like a certainty earlier in the day, but this game should be able to start on-time, and without too much of a delay unless, perhaps, if the game were to go into extra innings and have a finish time around midnight.
Manager Dale Sveum has inserted 3B/SS Cody Ransom ($2,000) into the starting lineup. He'll bat seventh and start at third base. OF Dave Sappelt ($3,600) gets another start in center field, and he bats leadoff against his former organization. SP Carlos Villanueva ($5,000) isn't a great play, even at this salary level. He is 1-1 with a 6.30 ERA in four appearances (one start) against the Reds since the start of the 2010 season. The Reds are hitting .286 against him during the span.
NEW YORK METS
Manager Terry Collins turns to SS Ruben Tejada ($2,500) as his leadoff hitter, the first time Tejada has occupied the role this season. OF Collin Cowgill ($3,200) will bat in the eighth position and he starts in center field. C John Buck ($4,200) is in the cleanup spot. However, he isn't a great play against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw ($12,700). Buck has managed just one hit (a single) in eight career at-bats against Kershaw, and he has two walks and two strikeouts. 2B Justin Turner ($3,100) gets the start at first base, but he isn't a great play tonight, either. He is 1-for-10 (.100) with a walk and a strikeout in his career against the Dodgers' ace. 1B Ike Davis (rest) gets the night off.
NEW YORK YANKEES
1B/3B Kevin Youkilis (back) is out of the lineup for manager Joe Girardi again Tuesday night. 1B Lyle Overbay ($3,400) gets another start at first base, batting sixth. 3B/SS Jayson Nix ($3,000) gets the nod at third base, and he'll bat ninth. C Francisco Cervelli ($3,300) is out of the lineup, too, as C Chris Stewart ($2,900) is behind the dish and batting seventh for the Bronx Bombers.
Manager Charlie Manuel gives 2B Chase Utley (rest) a day of rest, as the Phillies face Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke, a left-handed pitcher. It's simple a scheduled day of rest for Utley, and Manuel apparently feels the switch-hitting INF Freddy Galvis ($3,000) will handle the twig better.
ST. LOUIS CARDINALS
OF Jon Jay ($4,200) is getting another night off from manager Mike Matheny, but the good news is that he is not dealing with any type of injury. OF Shane Robinson ($3,200) will bat leadoff, and he gets the nod in center field. He is a nice, cheap option if you need some salary cap relief at other positions. 1B Matt Adams (oblique) is out of the lineup for a second straight game, with 1B/OF Allen Craig ($5,000) getting the start at first base.
OF Endy Chavez ($2,000) is starting in center field and leading off for manager Eric Wedge, who told MLB.com Tuesday that Chavez will get a majority of the starts in CF going forward with both OFs Franklin Gutierrez (hamstring) and Michael Saunders (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list.
