3 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on 2/17/21
One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays. If you’re looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing in one of these lower-salaried options into your lineup.
Let’s take a look at three players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup.
Gary Trent, SG, Portland Trail Blazers ($5,500)
With a massive 236.5-point over/under, the Portland Trail Blazers at New Orleans Pelicans‘ matchup is one to target tonight.
This game features the highest total on the slate along with two teams who aren’t particularly strong on defense this season. Notably, the Pelicans are allowing the ninth-most (42.15) FanDuel points per game to opposing shooting guards this season, but it doesn’t stop there. The Pelicans are also allowing their opponents to make 16.0 three-pointers per game, which is the worst in the league. This presents a clear path to upside for Gary Trent Jr., who has taken seven three-point attempts or more in nine of his last 10 games.
With C.J. McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic still out of the lineup for the Trail Blazers, Trent has the second-highest (20.4%) usage among their starters while producing 1.07 FanDuel points per minute. With Trent hitting three-pointers at a 44.4% clip this season, he is in a fantastic spot to pour it in from downtown against the Pelicans.
Facundo Campazzo, PG, Denver Nuggets ($3,500)
The Denver Nuggets had a ton of injuries last night and that trend continues tonight.
The Nuggets will be without Will Barton, P.J. Dozier, and Paul Millsap, while Gary Harris and Monte Morris are listed as questionable. This should lead to Facundo Campazzo seeing plenty of minutes for the third straight game. Last night against Boston, Campazzo was in the starting lineup and played a very solid 39 minutes and turned that into 38.6 FanDuel points. Doing that again tonight is very much on the table.
Tonight, the Nuggets are taking on the Washington Wizards where the total is set at 234.5-points, which is the second-highest on the slate. We also see the Nuggets (22nd) playing up in pace by a significant differential since the Wizards (1st) are the fastest team in the league.
Although he is listed as a point guard, Campazzo was the starting shooting guard last night because Jamal Murray was in the lineup for the Nuggets. If that is the case tonight, it will be beneficial for Campazzo, as the Wizards are allowing the 14th-most FanDuel points per game (41.46) to opposing shooting guards this season.
Reggie Jackson, PG, Los Angeles Clippers ($4,600)
The Los Angeles Clippers can offer DFS players plenty of value tonight, starting with Reggie Jackson.
Paul George and Nicolas Batum are out for tonight’s game, while Kawhi Leonard is listed as questionable. When those players are off the court this season, Jackson is holding a 17.9% usage rate while producing 0.81 FanDuel points per minute. We have seen this over the past two games with those players out, as Jackson has posted 26.5 and 19.2 FanDuel points.
Currently, Jackson is projected for 20.9 FanDuel points in 26.44 minutes. That can always be bumped higher if Leonard is officially ruled out. With a 227.5-point over/under, this game has plenty of fantasy potential for both sides, which should put Jackson in a great spot.
