5 Quick Tips to Playing FanDuel During NFL Playoffs
With just a few weeks until the Super Bowl, and just a couple weeks of FanDuel NFL action left, I thought it would be a good time to go over some interesting strategy tips for lineups during the NFL Playoffs.
Since there are just four games going on this weekend – just like the four games we had last weekend – there are only eight rosters of players to choose from. That’s one-fourth of the usual amount, and it’s considerably less than any regular season week, including when six teams are on byes.
1. Stacks Aren’t What They Used to Be
Playing any QB/WR two-player stack in a FanDuel GPP tournament will probably be met by many other similar lineups, since there are only eight QBs to pair with WRs. So that makes it tougher to really make headway in a tournament, unless you do something crazy, like pair together a QB/RB or even a RB/WR.
2. Bad Defenses Are Watching From Home, Too
Not only is it a limited amount of players to choose from, but you’re also picking players going up against very good defenses. Think about it – the days of choosing players for your lineup because they have great matchups is probably over – or at least will be once the Steelers defense gets knocked out.
3. Risk is Different With a Limited Schedule
Since there are only eight games, there are likely just a few offenses you think will be in for big weekends. But you can now get away with starting a running back and wide receiver from the same team, mitigating some of the risk of missing out on one of the top scorers.
4. You Don’t Have to Spend It All
It’s very possible you’ll end up playing some players that have better matchups than players with higher salaries, so you could feasibly end up with $1,000 or so available for players. You’d never do this during the regular season, but this week, with only a few matchups, you’d rather go with the players you think will do best – not the players with the higher salaries.
5. Injured Players Make for Good GPP Players
Let’s face it – NFL players are all beat up after four preseason games, 16 regular season games and now we’re into the second week of the NFL Playoffs. If they aren’t on the injury report, they’re walking around extra sore. But for those players who enter the weekend questionable because of injury, FanDuel players in GPP tournaments should consider using them in their lineup, in hopes of really differentiating their lineup from other players.
