Anthony Davis Ruled Out Thursday vs. Pistons; LeBron James Questionable
January 28Matt LaMarcaSportsGrid
Davis and James have been listed as questionable for most of the season, but that hasn’t stopped them from suiting up in basically every game this season. That said, tonight’s game vs. the Pistons feels different. Davis has already been ruled out with a knee injury, while James is a clear rest candidate. The Pistons are one of the worst teams in the league, and James is coming off a season-high 38.5 minutes yesterday. He’s also played at least 38 minutes in three of his past four games.
With Davis out, Kyle Kuzma becomes a candidate to move into the starting lineup and carry a larger workload. Marc Gasol has also increased his usage rate by +2.9% with Davis off the court this season, resulting in an average of 1.22 FanDuel points per minute.
If James also gets ruled out, the entire Lakers’ roster would become viable on tonight’s DFS slate. That would open up tons of usage, and the Pistons rank just 25th in defensive efficiency.
The Lakers have dropped to just 6.5-point favorites vs. the Pistons on FanDuel Sportsbook after initially opening at -10.5.
