Blue Jays Sign Michael Brantley to Three-Year Deal
January 20Matt LaMarcaSportsGrid
The Blue Jays continue to load up on big bats for their lineup. One day after signing one of the top free agents in George Springer, the Jays have reportedly doubled-down by secured Brantley to a three-year deal. Toronto now has a surplus of outfielders — Brantley will join Springer, Teoscar Hernandez, and Lourdes Gurriel — so Brantley could see the majority of his at bats this season at designated hitter.
Springer and Brantley join a Blue Jays lineup that already ranked eighth in the league in runs per game this season. Gurriel, Cavan Biggio, and Vlad Guerrero Jr. are also still very young, so there are plenty of reasons to expect this offense to be even better in 2021. The pitching staff remains a concern, but this offense should give the Blue Jays a great chance to make the postseason.
The Blue Jays are currently listed at +1000 to win the American League and +3000 to win the World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook.
