Buccaneers Designate Vita Vea to Return from Injured Reserve
January 18Matt LaMarcaSportsGrid
The Buccaneers managed to survive Sunday vs. the Saints, and they could have a major reinforcement on the way for the NFC Championship vs. the Packers. Vea has been designated to return from injured reserve, which gives their defense a massive boost up the middle. He will begin practicing with the team on Wednesday, which gives him a chance to be activated before game time.
Vea has played just five games for the Bucs this season, but his impact on the defense has been massive. They allowed an average of just 298.2 yards per game with Vea in the lineup this season, including just 58.4 rushing yards per game. Overall, Vea owns a Pro Football Focus grade of 90.1, making him one of the best interior defensive lineman in football.
The Bucs’ defense will have their hands full vs. the Packers on Sunday. Aaron Rodgers is playing some of the best football of his career, and they finished the season ranked first in the league in Football Outsiders’ offensive DVOA. The Bucs are currently listed as 3.5-point underdogs on FanDuel Sportsbook.
