Canada Just Got A 24-Hour Fantasy Sports Network
Millions of Canadians now have access to The FNTSY Sports Network on their televisions, joining millions of Americans who've also been blessed with the opportunity to have fantasy sports analysis beamed directly into their brains from the comfort of their couch). Finally, America and Canada will have something to talk about other than how much they both miss John Candy.
The FNTSY Sports Network -- which is powered by the geniuses over at RotoExperts who helped me win two leagues last year -- launched its multi-platform sports service on Rogers Cable Tuesday, making the channel available to Rogers Cable TV customers for free until October 31. That's right, now two-thirds of North America can turn on their televisions (or Xboxes or Roku players, where FNTSY is an app) and become infinitely better at beating their friends and/or winning money playing daily fantasy games. Two countries, 11 sports, one channel and over 150,000 years of human evolution leading up to this moment. Pat yourself on the back, Earth. You done good.
(A live stream of the channel is also available online, Via FNTSY.com] FNTSY Sports Network will be available in free preview until October 31, 2015 and subsequently available in the Super Sports Pak, Extra Sports Pack and Sports Theme Pack, as well as on a discretionary basis. It can be found on channel 499 in high-definition (HD) and standard-definition (SD).
Seriously though, this is huge news for the fantasy gaming world, which has quickly revolutionized the way people consume sports. Combined with ESPN's partnership with DFS giant Draft Kings, a 24-hour fantasy news television channel portends even more growth for the industry that's literally changing the game. One day you'll look back and remember a time when your grandma didn't play in six fantasy hockey leagues and think, "She used to be so boring."
Here's a peek at what the FNTSY Sports Network's programming will look like...
