The Arizona Cardinals will be without one of their leading receivers in Sunday’s must-win game against the Los Angeles Rams. According to Adam Schefter, the Cardinals have placed Christian Kirk on their reserve/covid-19 list. Kirk is second on the team in targets, yards and receiving touchdowns.
That could spell a big day for DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins is the fourth-most targeted receiver in the NFL and has accumulated the third-most receiving yards. Hopkins has been leaned upon heavily over the four weeks, collecting 34 receptions, 47 targets, 405 yards and two touchdowns. Larry Fitzgerald, who was targetted eight times last week, could also see a boost in production in Kirk’s absence, although Fitzgerald’s official status is questionable. FanDuel has Hopkins listed at $8,200 while future Hall of Famer Fitzgerald is a much lower $4,800, albeit with a substantially lower upside.
Arizona, although 3-point road favourites, is in tough against the league’s best defence. The Rams have given up the fewest yards and fewest passing yards this season while giving up the third-fewest points. If the Cardinals take the lead early, the run game will be a prominent fixture, which could also mean big things for Kenyan Drake.
