There is a chance that McCaffrey returns to the lineup at some point this season, but it doesn’t appear like that will happen Saturday vs. the Packers. McCaffrey was sidelined at Thursday’s practice and is officially listed as doubtful for Week 15.
With McCaffrey likely out, Mike Davis should once again work as the lead running back for the Panthers. He played on 73% of the offensive snaps last week and finished with 11 carries and six targets. He managed to turn those touches into 93 total yards and two touchdowns, resulting in 23.8 FanDuel points.
Davis will have a chance to succeed again this week vs. the Packers. Their defense has been mediocre this season, ranking just 20th in Football Outsiders’ defensive DVOA. The Panthers are listed as 7.5-point underdogs in this matchup, but that isn’t necessarily a negative for Davis. Even if the Panthers fall behind and are forced to abandon the run game, he should be able to maintain his fantasy value by catching passes out of the backfield.
