Wood was initially listed as questionable for Wednesday’s matchup vs. the Pistons, but the Rockets have downgraded him to out. He suffered a sprained ankle Wednesday vs. the Suns, and while he was able to return to the game, he was reportedly in a lot of pain. Wood was unable to practice on Thursday, so the coaching staff has decided to rule him out early.
With Wood out of the lineup, DeMarcus Cousins is expected to draw the start at center. He’s been effective in limited playing time this season, averaging 1.25 FanDuel points per minute. That makes him a very valuable fantasy asset if he’s going to see more playing time than usual.
John Wall also remains out with a knee injury, so expect Cousins, Victor Oladipo, and Eric Gordon to carry the load offensively. All three players have a favorable matchup vs. the Pistons, who rank just 25th in defensive efficiency this season.
