The Dallas Stars have placed goaltender Anton Khudobin in the COVID-19 protocol Mike Heika of DallasStars.com, reports. There is no word yet whether or not Khudobin tested positive for the disease or was just in close contact with someone who did. Khudobin has been the starting goaltender for the Stars this season due to Ben Bishop undergoing offseason knee surgery. Khudobin has had a solid campaign with a 2.48 GAA and .908 save percentage but has started to lose playing time to Jake Oettinger.
Ben Bishop is getting closer to a return, but that may not happen until later this month. The Stars have struggled this season due to several injuries, including Bishop, Tyler Seguin (hip), and Alexander Radulov (lower body). They currently sit five points out of a playoff spot but have four games in hand on both the Predators and Blackhawks. The team has been going with the hot goaltender in the net, but the truth is, unless the goalies can also put the puck in the net, it may not matter all that much.
The Stars will play the Hurricanes tonight on the road. They are -200 (+1.5 goals) on the puck line, +138 on the money line, and have an over/under of 5.5, +102 to the over, and -124 to the under.
