D’Angelo Russell Unlikely to Play Monday vs. Warriors

Head coach Steven Saunders said that Russell is “probably unlikely” to play Monday vs. the Warriors. He continues to deal with a quad contusion, which also caused him to miss Saturday’s game vs. the Pelicans. Karl-Anthony Towns also remains out of the lineup after testing positive for COVID-19, which leaves the Timberwolves without their top two offensive options.
Ricky Rubio moved into the starting lineup in place of Russell in their last game, and he finished with 26.9 FanDuel points over 28.5 minutes. He’s averaged 0.92 FanDuel points per minute with both Russell and Towns off the court this season, so he could be worth some consideration on Monday’s DFS slate.
Jarred Vanderbilt stands out as one of the Timberwolves’ top fantasy options. He’s seen a usage bump of +3.1% with Towns and Russell off the court, resulting in a team-high average of 1.21 FanDuel points per minute. He’s played at least 21.2 minutes in three of his past four games, and he’s scored at least 29.8 FanDuel points in all three of those contests. He has been priced up a bit for tonight’s matchup, but he still stands out as an excellent value.
The Timberwolves are currently listed as 9.5-point underdogs vs. the Warriors on FanDuel Sportsbook.
