Deebo Samuel Suffers Hamstring Injury vs. Washington
Samuel has dealt with injuries all season, and he picked up another one in Week 14 vs. Washington. He limped off the field with a hamstring injury after the 49ers’ first offensive snap and was unable to return to the lineup. After the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan said that the injury “did not look good”, and ESPN’s Nick Wagoner added that Samuel could miss the remainder of the season.
Samuel has already dealt with a hamstring injury this season, which kept him out of the lineup for three games. He also missed the first three weeks of the season after suffering a Jones fracture in his left foot during the offseason, and he was dealing with a non-related foot injury heading into last week’s game.
With Samuel out of the lineup, expect Brandon Aiyuk to step into a massive role for the 49ers’ passing attack. He garnered a whopping 16 targets after Samuel left last week’s contest vs. the 49ers, and he ultimately finished with 10 receptions for 119 yards. He saw 24 total targets in the two games he played without Samuel during the middle of the season, and he also scored a touchdown in both of those contests. That kind of volume makes him a strong fantasy option moving forward.
Aiyuk will suit up in a prime spot next week vs. the Cowboys. They’ve struggled on the defensive side of the ball this season, ranking merely 23rd in Football Outsiders’ pass defense DVOA.
