Denzel Ward Out Sunday Against Pittsburgh Steelers
Covid-19 continues to wreak havoc on the Cleveland Browns locker room. Their well-documented problems are made worse, following news from Field Yates that starting cornerback Denzel Ward has been ruled out on Sunday.
Ward, who also missed week 17 against the Steelers due to covid-19, has been a stalwart on defence all season. He’s started 72% of snaps, is tied for the team lead in interceptions with two and is tied for second in the league with 18 passes defended. Ward’s absence is a huge blow to the Browns already depleted team. With cornerback Kevin Johnson also ruled out, the Browns secondary is a huge liability Sunday.
In Week 17, the Browns allowed 317 yards through the air, and if Mason Rudolph can throw for 315 yards against your defence, there’s no telling what Ben Roethlisberger can do. Keep an eye on Diontae Johnson, a preferred target for Roethlisberger, averaging 74.1 yards per game on 12.0 targets per game and four touchdowns over Big Ben’s last eight starts. Over at FanDuel, Roethlisberger is the fourth-highest priced quarterback at $7,500 while Johnson carries a price tag of $7,000, third-highest among wide receivers.
Although the line opened at +3.5, Cleveland is currently at +6.5 with a total of 47.5 at FanDuel Sportsbook.
