Does James Wiseman have the bulk to bang in the NBA?
It’s painfully obvious to me that you can tell when you look at a kid coming out of Division-1 ball getting drafted or a free agent that they’ve not filled out; they don’t have that muscle. They just don’t have that weight that every pro gets. They all gain weight as they are in the NBA. In particular, forwards and big men.
So if the Warriors bring in a guy like James Wiseman, and he still looks like a skinny college kid when he comes in, it’s different. Sure, he’s big and seven-foot, but when you see these guys that play in the league, these big centers, they’re bigger. Look at Nurkic or Jokic or any of them. They all have massive amounts of extra weight and muscle, every one of them. The college kids just don’t have that yet.
It’s the weirdest thing because you’re watching them play whatever, and then all of a sudden, it gets lost in translation because you’ll only see a team play here or there like once or twice a month.
If you don’t watch every game, you don’t see him, and then you forget about it. Then all of a sudden, three years go by, and you look, and you see the guy, and you’re like, Holy Shaq.
