We look ahead to see who we think will be great waiver wire choices after the Week 13 games, even though we’re making these guesses before Week 13 is even here. We’re trying to give you a chance to make a pickup or two while those players are still available, and before you must battle others on the waiver wire. First come, first served, baby!
The great thing about Week 14 waivers is that you are likely only fighting with five other teams for the services of the top free agents. Even then, the two teams that are on byes might not even join in on the waiver battle (then again, they’re the best teams in your league, which means they’re smart).
Not only is the battle for players smaller than usual, but you are much higher up on the waiver wire list than normal. If you were the last team to clinch a playoffs spot, you are now the first team in the waiver-wire order, so you can pick whomever you’d like!
Plus, you’ll have a great second-round waiver choice, too, with just five teams picking after your first pick, as opposed to 11 other teams.
The Browns and Titans are coming off Week 13 byes, which means some of those players might have been cut to make room for waiver choices last week. For instance, TE Gary Barnidge should be fine after his Week 12 knee injury scare, and he’ll be facing a Bengals defense that is allowing 9.27 Fantasy points per game to tight ends (fourth-most in the NFL). Barnidge is owned in just 51 percent of CBS leagues, dropping nine percent in ownership from Week 12. Consider picking him up if he’s available.
