Getting the Max For Your Mins: 12 Cheap Players For DFS Week 3
Who doesn’t love them some Daily Fantasy Football!?! We’re two weeks in and we’re starting to get a clearer picture of what some defenses look like (should we respect Washington more?) and which rookies look like solid all-season contributors (That’s Amari!).
But Daily Fantasy Football players never rest and they’re always looking for some cheap players in the bargain bin.
My plan here is to point you in the direction of a handful of players that cost you the FanDuel minimum at their respective positions.
12 Minimum Priced Players on FanDuel For DFS Week 3
Considering these players are bottom-of-the-barrel, figure these guys to be better bets in GPP tournaments more than they are in cash games. The only quarterbacks with minimum salaries are all backup QBs not expected to see any playing time in Week 3.
Terron Ward, RB, Atlanta at Dallas - $4,500
With Tevin Coleman dealing with a broken rib for the next couple weeks, the Falcons will turn to sophomore RB Devonta Freeman, pushing undrafted free agent Terron Ward out of Oregon State into the prime backup spot against the Cowboys.
Jarryd Hayne, RB, San Francisco at Arizona - $4,500
The former rugby star serves as the 49ers punt return man, which means he can score you points on special teams, too. It’s a longshot, of course, but you’re looking in the bargain bin – they’re all long shots!
Brian Hartline, WR, Cleveland vs. Oakland - $4,500
Hartline didn’t make any catches on his three targets in Week 2 against the Titans, with Johnny Manziel under center. But Josh McCown threw to him five times in Week 1 – and McCown is expected to start again in Week 3 against the Raiders.
Marquess Wilson, WR, Chicago at Seattle - $4,500
With Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) hampered, and a new quarterback under center, Wilson might start seeing more targets. Wilson is dealing with his own shoulder injury, but RotoWire.com points out that he has played during 89.3 percent of the Bears’ offensive snaps – second only to Eddie Royal.
Marlon Brown, WR, Baltimore vs. Cincinnati - $4,500
Considering the third-year wide receiver led all Ravens with 70 offensive snaps against the Raiders, according to RotoWire. He’s a big target (6-foot-5) that Joe Flacco could come back to for some red-zone at some point (he saw one red-zone target in Week 2).
Brandon Myers, TE, Tampa Bay at Houston - $4,500
With Austin Seferian-Jenkins out for a while, and Tim Wright traded yet again, Myers will be the main pass-catching tight end for Jameis Winston’s offense. The Texans aren’t great against tight ends this season, so far, either.
Ben Watson, TE, New Orleans at Carolina - $4,500
He played in 76 percent of the Saints’ offensive snaps in Week 2, according to the New Orleans’ Times-Picayune.
Gavin Escobar, TE, Dallas vs. Atlanta - $4,500
With Jason Witten dealing with some leg injuries, Escobar could become a bigger part of the Cowboys offense – especially with Dez Bryant injured, too.
Gary Barnidge, TE, Cleveland vs. Oakland - $4,500
The Raiders are brutal against tight ends so far this season, so Barnidge is up next, hoping to keep it going.
Kyle Brindza, K, Tampa Bay at Houston - $4,500
Big leg, bonus points for long distance kicks, weather-controlled stadium!
Josh Brown, K, N.Y. Giants vs. Washington - $4,500
The guy has six field goal attempts so far this season! No kicker has more chances than him, or as many makes (six).
N.Y. Jets Defense vs. Philadelphia - $4,500
We’ve seen what this defense can do against the Colts and Andrew Luck. Now we’ll see what he can do against the Eagles’ struggling offense with Sam Bradford at the helm.
Hopefully, some of these DFS cheapies come through for you on your way to winning the $5M FanDuel NFL Sunday Million!
