Gus Edwards Signs Extension With Ravens Through 2023
Gus Edwards has signed a two-year, $10 million contract extension to stay with the Baltimore Ravens through the 2022-23 season.
Ravens and restricted free-agent running back Gus Edwards reached agreement on a two-year, $10 million contract extension, per his agent @DrewJRosenhaus. Edwards now under contract through 2023 season.
Only behind star quarterback Lamar Jackson, Edwards took the most carries for Baltimore and had the most receptions out of the Raven backfield. He proved his worth as a solid change-of-pace back alongside J.K. Dobbins as the two each had over 130 carries on the season. With the top rushing offense in the league on 192.1 yards per game, re-signing their leading ball carrier and maintaining this backfield is vital to maintaining the offense’s pedigree and success in the running game.
As for fantasy production, look for Edwards to continue to flourish in this system. Baltimore led the league a season ago with 34.6 carries per game, a big step away from the Titans, who had the second-most with 31.9.
Throughout the 2020-21 season, Edwards slowly showed value following the Week 7 bye week by accruing six starts as well as five of his six touchdowns on the season. With Mark Ingram Jr. now in Houston, expect an even bigger workload for Edwards in 2021-22 as he’ll likely share the backfield once again with Dobbins. Gus Edwards should remain a solid fantasy asset in almost all leagues this upcoming season.
