This is the third game that has been postponed on Wednesday’s slate, and it’s the sixth postponed game over the past four days. There have been no reports of anyone testing positive for COVID-19 for either side, but the Hawks did play the Wizards in their last contest. Washington is currently dealing with COVID-19 issues of their own, so it’s possible that someone on the Hawks contracted the virus during that contest. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the league is currently conducting contact tracing with the Hawks following their game vs. the Wizards.
The league recently announced tighter protocols to try and stop the spread of the virus, including restricting players to the hotel when not participating in team functions and banning outsiders from visiting. Those moves have not been particularly well received by the players, with George Hill saying that the stricter protocols make “no sense”.
We’re still waiting for more details regarding the Hawks and Suns, but the NBA is clearly struggling at the moment.
