Heat welcome Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic back vs. Pistons, Tyler Herro won’t play Saturday
The Miami Heat will look a little more like the team that went to the NBA Finals last year. Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic are two of several players that have been cleared from the league’s health and safety protocols program and can play Saturday against Detroit. Miami had last Saturday’s game against the Celtics postponed before a number of players landed on the COVID-list to miss the next two games. The shorthanded Heat dropped both games to the 76ers while courting a skeleton crew barely good enough for the league minimum. Miami’s best player, Jimmy Butler, remains in league protocols, but Dragic and Adebayo significantly boost the offense. Dragic should be the go-to guy with Butler and Tyler Herro out with neck spasms. Adebayo will also be a big factor against the Pistons and moving forward. The Heat big man is putting up nearly 18 points and nine rebounds per game while also a presence on the defensive end.
It’s a shame as Miami is getting players back Herro heads to the shelf. The 20-year-old led the Heat admirably as they were shorthanded, putting up games of 17 and a season-high 34 points in their two-game set with the Sixers. Kendrick Nunn will eat up some of Herro’s minutes behind Dragic. Kelly Olynyk and Precious Achiuwa will see a cut into their playing time with the return of Adebayo.
