Hornets’ Gordon Hayward out for preseason finale, could miss season opener
Gordon Hayward will not play in the Charlotte Hornets final preseason game on Saturday. The oft-injured Hayward is dealing with a fractured finger on his right hand. Hayward did play in the Hornets’ first two preseason games but missed their game with the Magic on Thursday.
Hayward did test the hand on Friday with some ball-handling and shooting but is still listed as day-to-day.
The Hornets open their season in Cleveland against the Cavaliers on Wednesday, but Hayward is far from a certainty. If the 30-year old doesn’t play, Miles Bridges stands to benefit the most. He’s been on the receiving end for some nice alley-oop dunks thrown up by LaMelo Ball. The pair seems to build some rapport in the preseason and could carry it to the regular season if Bridges gets the start.
In the meantime, Bridges has a $2000 price tag for Charlotte’s last preseason tilt, and he’s only 50% owned in traditional fantasy leagues.
