Ian Desmond of the Colorado Rockies has opted out of the 2021 Season.
“Over the last few months, I’ve had tough conversations. I’ve asked a lot of questions and done a lot of thinking. For now, I’ve decided to opt-out of the 2021 season. My desire to be with my family is greater than my desire to go back and play baseball under these circumstances,” he said in a statement released on his Instagram account.
Desmond last played in 2019 for the Rockies, appearing in 140 games, batting .255 with 20 home runs and a .310 OBP. For his 11-year career, he is a .263 hitter with 181 home runs and a .315 OBP.
