The Jaguars have moved on from Marrone after four years, culminating with a 1-15 season in 2020. He led the team to the AFC Championship in his first year, but he finished with a record of just 22-42 over his four seasons.
With Marrone out, the search begins to find a new head coach in a very appealing destination. Not only do the Jaguars have the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft – which gives them a shot to draft Trevor Lawrence – but they also have over $100M in cap space. That means the new coach and general manager will have plenty of new talent to work with next season.
Urban Meyer has emerged as a favorite to land the Jaguars’ head coaching job if he wants. Meyer last coached with Ohio State University in 2019 and also spent 2005 through 2010 with the Florida Gators. Meyer will also reportedly have the ability to hire his own general manager should he choose to sign on with the Jaguars.
