Tampa Bay Buccaneers backup quarterback Josh Rosen was signed to the San Francisco 49ers active roster, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
A member of the Buccaneers practice squad, Rosen last started for the Miami Dolphins in 2019, in a Week 6 loss to Washington. In his two-year career, Rosen has thrown for 2,845 yards and 12 touchdowns, spending time as a member of the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins.
Rosen looks to provide depth to a 49ers, with Nick Mullens missing the remainder of the season will an elbow injury. The good news for San Francisco is quarter back Jimmy Garoppolo has been designated to return to practice, after missing six games with an ankle injury.
With Garoppolo’s status in question, look for C.J. Beathard to assume starting responsibilities. Beathard is priced at $6,800 on FanDuel. In four games this season, Beathard has thrown for 332 yards and two touchdowns, including a Hail Mary in Week 15 to end the game in a loss to the Cowboys. He will face a Cardinals defense that has allowed and average of19 points to opposing quarterbacks this season
The 49ers are a 5.5-point road underdog on FanDuel Sportsbook against Arizona, in a Saturday game with a 48.5 total.
