Kristaps Porzingis Will Make Season Debut Monday vs. Pelicans
January 11Matt LaMarcaSportsGrid
Porzingis suffered a knee injury last year during the playoffs, which has caused him to miss each of the first nine games this season. However, he will officially return to the lineup on Monday vs. the Pelicans. The timing could not be better for the Mavericks, who are currently dealing with a host of COVID-19 related absences. Maxi Kleber will miss the next 10-to-14 days after testing positive for the virus, while Josh Richardson, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Jalen Brunson have all been ruled out for health and safety protocols. Porzingis will likely be limited in his first game, but his return will give them some much-needed depth.
The Mavericks have also gotten off to a slow start this season. They’ve won just five of their first nine games, and they rank just 13th in Offensive Efficiency. The Mavericks were first in the league in that department last season, and the return of Porzingis should give them a boost.
The Mavericks are currently listed as 3.5-point favorites vs. the Pelicans on FanDuel Sportsbook.
