Pitts is arguably the most impressive tight end prospect that the league has ever seen. He measured nearly 6’6” and 245 pounds, and his 83 3/8” wingspan is the longest mark of the past 20 years. He also put his elite athleticism on display at his pro day on Wednesday. He blazed a 4.44 40-yard dash to go along with excellent marks in the vertical and broad jump drills.
Pitts was a consensus All-American in his final season at Florida and also took home the 2020 John Mackey Award. That is given out annually to the top tight end in college football, and Pitts earned that designation thanks to 43 catches, 770 yards, and 12 touchdowns in his junior season.
Pitts has solidified himself as a sure-fire first-rounder following his pro day, and the only question left is how high he will be drafted. The first three picks seem assured to be quarterbacks at this point, but Pitts is in play as early as No. 4 to the Atlanta Falcons. One thing that is certain: Pitts will be a matchup nightmare for NFL defenses in the near future.
