Lions Dealing With Injuries to Matthew Stafford and Frank Ragnow

Matthew Stafford will not practice on Thursday, according to The Detroit News. Detroit is planning to give him every opportunity to heal up after sustaining a rib injury in Sunday’s loss against the Packers. Interim head coach, Darrell Bevell, has hinted that he would be fine if Stafford were to play on Sunday without practicing during the week.
Detroit will also be monitoring the status of their starting center, Frank Ragnow. Ragnow suffered from fractured cartilage in his throat during last week’s game. After further examination, his injury is now being described as a vocal cord injury. Doctors have advised that he’ll need to refrain from speaking if his condition is to improve.
The possibility of Detroit having a different center and quarterback for Sunday’s game might explain the line move in this game. Tennessee is now an 11-point favorite—up from the opening number of 10 earlier in the week. Backup quarterback Chase Daniel is considered to be a significant downgrade from Stafford. The undrafted quarterback has a 57.2 player grade according to Pro Football Focus, while Stafford’s grade is 80.9.
