Matthew Stafford is expected to start Sunday for the Lions. Stafford was questionable all week with thumb and ankle injuries but wants to play in the season finale versus Minnesota. Some might ask what’s the point as neither the Lions nor the Vikings have anything to play for. Stafford has a reputation, however, for being tough and wanting to play through injuries. The bigger question might be whether or not he will be back in Detroit next season. There have been rumors that Stafford could be traded as Detroit might be in a rebuild and want to move on from a soon to be a 33-year old quarterback who is making $27 million per season. Stafford himself might prefer to play for a team that has a chance to win.
As for this week’s game versus Minnesota, the Lions are 4.5 point underdogs, and Stafford can be had for $7,200 in DFS. You would have to be starting Stafford on faith, though. While it’s true that Minnesota has been lit up on defense of late, with Kenny Golladay, the Lions just don’t have the offensive firepower to take advantage of that.
