The New York Jets made time to meet with veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer, and according to Al Iannazzone, it was a “good visit.” The Jets have a void at quarterback to fill after trading Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers earlier this week.
Hoyer has played 10 games over the last three seasons, starting two of them, completing 51-of-92 pass attempts for 509 passing yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions. His last season as a regular starter was in 2015, when he started nine games for the Houston Texans.
Presumably, the Jets are looking for a mentor for whichever young quarterback they take in the upcoming NFL draft.
The 2021 NFL Draft starts on April 29, 2021, and surely the Jets will use their second-overall pick to try and nab their next franchise quarterback. Trevor Lawrence is heavy -6000 chalk to be taken first overall, as per FanDuel Sportsbook. However, several intriguing quarterbacks will be available, such as Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, and Trey Lance, for the Jets at the two-spot. Wilson is the betting favorite to land with the Jets and is listed at -3000.
