News and notes for the 2nd round of the NFL Draft, Part 1

The Jets selected wide receiver Elijah Moore of Ole Miss with the 34th pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. Moore will team up with 2nd overall pick, Zack Wilson, to give the Jets a home run threat they have lacked for several seasons. The addition of Moore likely spells the ends of Jamison Crowder’s career with the team.
The Broncos selected running back Javonte Williams of North Carolina with the 35th pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Broncos traded up to get their favored running back. The Broncos still have Melvin Gordon on the roster, but his contract expires after this season. Williams will be the starting RB for the team no later than 2022.
The Cardinals selected wide receiver Rondale Moore of Purdue with the 49th pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Cardinals were likely looking for a WR with Larry Fitzgerald possibly retiring, and in Mondale, they get a speedy wideout who is a threat to take the rock to the house every time he touches the ball.
The Steelers selected tight end Pat Freiermuth of Penn State with the 55th pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. Freiermuth has been called baby Gronk by pundits and will give Ben Roethlisberger another receiving option down the field. However, some might say that with an offensive line that has some problems, the Steelers would’ve been better off drafting the top offensive lineman available.
