The Chiefs have ruled out Patrick Mahomes for the final week of the regular season. Chad Henne will get the start in what will be his first NFL start since 2014 when he was a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kansas City has already won their division and locked up the top seed in the AFC, making this week’s game against the Chargers rather moot.
The Chiefs could likely rest other players as well, but at the moment, head coach Andy Reid has only committed to Mahomes being out.
Kansas City’s practice report this week could provide some insight as to their plans for Week 17.
On Wednesday, Le’Veon Bell (knee), Tyreek Hill (hamstring), Mike Remmers (back), Clyde Edwards-Helaire (ankle), Ben Niemann (hamstring), and Sammy Watkins (calf) were non-participants at practice.
The Chargers are 3.5 point favorites against the Chiefs over at FanDuel, while Henne’s fantasy value is set at $6,400 for this week.
