Patrik Laine has arrived in Columbus and could make Blue Jackets debut Tuesday
Patrik Laine has landed in Columbus following the trade the Jets and Blue Jackets pulled off almost a week ago. Winnipeg shipped the skilled scorer for disgruntled Columbus center Pierre-Luc Dubois last Saturday. Laine was working on some work visa issues, but it appears that’s been sorted out, and he’s arrived in his new home, hockey city. Laine is not quite out of the woods just yet, as the former Jet will still have to quarantine for two days and pass subsequent COVID tests before he gets the green light to suit up for the team.
The Finnish sniper played in just one game so far this season, where he registered a goal and two assists. Laine is an elite goal scorer and had 28 markers and 63 points in 68 games last season. In just four seasons, Laine already has three 30-goal seasons to go along with the 28 from last year’s shortened campaign. The 22-year-old is nowhere near his prime and has already put up a 44-goal year in his sophomore NHL season.
