Conner was initially listed as questionable for the Steelers’ Monday Night Football contest vs. the Bengals, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that he’s been downgraded to out. Conner returned to the lineup last week vs. the Bills after spending the previous two weeks on the reserve/COVID-19 list, and he’s currently dealing with a hamstring injury.
Benny Snell will likely draw the start if Conner is ruled out, but there’s no guarantee that leads to fantasy success. He managed 65 rushing yards on 24 attempts over his previous two starts, and the Steelers’ run game in general has been a disaster recently. They’ve logged 68 yards or fewer in six of their past seven games, and they’ve averaged just 54.3 yards per game over that time frame.
Jaylen Samuels has also seen more playing time recently, and he could warrant some consideration if Conner is ruled out. He’s cheap at just $7,000 in FanDuel’s single-game format, and he’s displayed the ability to catch passes out of the backfield. The Steelers have thrown the ball at the fifth-highest rate this season, so his pass-catching chops should get him on the field vs. the Bengals.
