Report: Jared Goff and John Wolford Will Compete for Starting QB Job

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that there will be a QB competition in Los Angeles next season. Goff has held down the starting job since being drafted No. 1 overall, but his play has not impressed recently. Wolford apparently did enough in his limited playing time that the team will use him to try and motivate Goff this offseason. That said, it seems very unlikely that the team would actually pull the plug on Goff in favor of the undrafted rookie from Wake Forest. Still, the Rams have made it very clear that Goff on a short leash.
The other possibility is trying to trade Goff and bring in a replacement. The connection to Aaron Rodgers is an obvious one — he played college football at Cal and is originally from California — but there are several quarterbacks available heading into the offseason. It remains to be seen if the Rams could move Goff and his monster contract, but it seems that the team is at least open to trying to upgrade the quarterback position.
