Report: Lions’ Coaching Staff Dealing With COVID-19
December 23Matt LaMarcaSportsGrid
The Lions have dealt with their fair share of issues this season, and now they will potentially be without part of their coaching staff on Saturday vs. the Buccaneers. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, almost all of their defensive coaching staff is in the quarantine process after being considered high-risk close contacts. Interim head coach Darrell Bevell is also considered a close contact. There is still a chance that some of these coaches will be cleared before kickoff on Saturday, but the process is still ongoing.
In response, the Lions plan to conduct an outdoor practice on Wednesday. The coaching staff and players will also meet virtually.
As far as the players go, Kenny Golladay, Jamie Collins, and Frank Ragnow were all unable to suit up at practice on Tuesday. Matthew Stafford was limited with rib and thumb injuries, but he intends to be back on the field for vs. Tampa Bay.
The Lions are currently listed as 9.5-point underdogs at home vs. the Buccaneers on FanDuel Sportsbook, and that contest is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Saturday.
