Report: Mike Gesicki Will Likely Miss at Least One Game
Gesicki dislocated his shoulder in the Dolphins’ Week 14 loss vs. the Chiefs, and it seems like he’s expected to miss some time. He was unable to practice on Wednesday, and Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald is reporting that the team fears he will miss at least their Week 15 game vs. the Patriots. More details are expected later on Wednesday after Gesicki undergoes an MRI.
Gesicki has had a relatively quiet season before exploding over his past two games. He finished with nine catches for 88 yards in Week 13 vs. the Bengals and followed that up with five catches for 65 yards and two touchdowns vs. the Chiefs. Gesicki has now scored in each of his past three contests, and he’s averaged 16.93 FanDuel points per game over that time.
Gesicki isn’t the only injury that the Dolphins are dealing with at the moment. DeVante Parker and Jakeem Grant were also forced to leave the game early last week, so they could be extremely shorthanded in terms of pass catchers if either player is unable to suit up. Expect Adam Shaheen and Durham Smythe to handle the majority of the tight end snaps if Gesicki is ruled out, while Lynn Bowden could see plenty of work as a receiver if Parker or Grant are inactive. Bowden led the team with nine targets last week, and 77.8% percent of his snaps came in the slot.
