Report: Multiple Teams Interested in Dwayne Haskins
Haskins’ time in Washington may be over, but it seems like he will get a shot with another franchise. The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that multiple teams have interest in signing Haskins but that he is unlikely to sign before the season is over. He also mentioned that the Panthers have emerged as one possible destination.
Haskins has been nothing short of a disaster at the NFL level. He’s posted a record of 3-10 as a starting quarterback while tossing 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He showed no real progression in his second season, with his adjusted yards per attempt dropping from 5.9 as a rookie to 5.1 this season. Haskins was benched in three separate games this season for three separate quarterbacks, and he’s also dealt with some questionable behavior off the field. He was stripped of his captaincy after violating the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols, and he also refused to speak to the media following last week’s dismal performance vs. the Panthers.
Still, it’s not surprising that teams would have interest in Haskins during the offseason. He’s just 23 years old and was the No. 15 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He has a long way to go before earning another starting spot at the NFL level, but he has enough potential to warrant a roster spot.
