Russell Westbrook Ruled Out Wednesday vs. Pelicans
The Wizards have been playing shorthanded recently, and they’re going to be even thinner Wednesday vs. the Pelicans. Westbrook will get the night off for rest, which is something he’s done all season on the second leg of back-to-backs. Rui Hachimura, Davis Bertans, Ish Smith, Troy Brown Jr., and Moe Wagner all remain out of the lineup due to health and safety protocols, while Raul Neto is listed as questionable with a groin injury.
If Neto can suit up, expect him to draw the start at point guard. He was solid in limited minutes last night — he finished with 26.5 FanDuel points in just 22.5 minutes — and he’s been excellent when filling in for Westbrook this season. He’s averaged 22.95 FanDuel points four starts, making him a solid value option if he suits up vs. the Pelicans.
Bradley Beal should also be asked to carry an even larger workload than usual. His usage rate of 37.7% is already the top mark in the league this season, and he’s increased that figure to 40.7% with Westbrook off the court. He’s averaged 1.55 FanDuel points per minute in that situation, which represents a solid increase compared to his season average.
The Wizards are currently listed as eight-point underdogs vs. the Pelicans on FanDuel Sportsbook.
