Tristan Thompson (hamstring) Uncertain Wednesday vs. Bucks

Thompson is dealing with a hamstring injury, but he appears to be trending in the right direction. Head coach Brad Stevens said that Thompson did “a lot” at practice on Saturday, and he followed that up with a full practice on Monday. His status for Wednesday’s season-opener vs. the Bucks is still in question, but a return to court seems imminent.
Stevens did say that Thompson would be on a minutes limit when he does suit up, which bodes well for Daniel Theis in the short term. Theis was solid as the Celtics’ starting center last year, averaging 9.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks over 24.1 minutes per game. He has a chance to pick up a few additional minutes if Thompson is out of the lineup, and Theis averaged approximately 1.02 FanDuel points per minute last season. Robert Williams also has a chance to see a few additional minutes if Thompson is ruled out.
The Celtics will face a tough test on opening night vs. the Bucks, who were the best team in the league last season in terms of defensive efficiency. They’re currently listed as 2.5-point home underdogs in that contest on FanDuel Sportsbook.
