The world keeps on turning as fantasy football players desperately try to navigate the combinatoric minefield of injuries and COVID-related bye weeks. As we head into Week 5, we have added Austin Ekeler and Nick Chubb to the list of stud fantasy football players who are sidelined by injury. Not only are we faced with actual, bodily injuries but it appears that the Titans/Bills game is going to be cancelled or postponed as a result of the Titans completely disregarding the league rules as it pertains to COVID-19.
This will be a fantasy football season unlike any other season we have ever had and in my opinion, it has really separated the best from the rest. Managers who are not closely monitoring the waiver wire, and using their bench in the appropriate way are going to get crushed as we hit the bye weeks. This is a key time to cutting dead weight (injured players, older players who have shown they are past it) and be future-focused with our bench spots as much as possible.
Obviously, the point of these rankings is to help with start/sit decisions (which I am always available to consider on Twitter as well) but something I definitely wanted to note is the value in starting players you KNOW are playing. Do you have Jonnu Smith? I’d rather get Cam Brate’s potential points on Thursday because I KNOW he will be active. That is definitely something to keep in mind as you set your lineups throughout the bye weeks.
