Zack Kassian is a late scratch for the Edmonton Oilers ahead of the Montreal Canadiens contest on Saturday night. A tweet from the Oilers official account confirmed that Kassian would not skate as his wife gave birth to a baby girl.
Kassian has been a fixture on the Oilers top line with Connor McDavid and has posted a positive Corsi rating and one assist early this season while seeing fewer offensive zone starts. That opens the door for Josh Archibald, who skated next to McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins in the pre-game skate. If Archibald doesn’t click, that could also mean ice-time for Jesse Puljujarvi on the first line.
The Oilers are a pick’em against the Habs with a total of 6.5.
