Bellator President Invites Meryl Streep To Chael Sonnen-Tito Ortiz Fight
The first thing I thought when Donald Trump Twitter-responded to Meryl Streep's Golden Globes diss was: Where's Celebrity Deathmatch when you really need it?
Sadly, the Claymation show that pitted celebrities fighting to the death was canceled in 2007, but we have no doubt that Streep would win such a match. Ironic, since she doesn't seem to be much of an MMA fan. New York Post:
When the 67-year-old actress accepted the Cecil D. DeMille award for lifetime achievement at the Golden Globes on Sunday, she told the audience, “Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners. If you kick ’em all out, you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts.”
That didn't sit well with Scott Coker, the president of Bellator MMA. But instead of going Trump Baby Mode and responding with an attack, Coker took the high road. He extended an invite to Streep to attend the Chael Sonnen-Tito Ortiz fight at the Forum in Los Angeles on Jan. 21.
“Please be my guest at the LA Forum on January 21st and you will see that Mixed Martial Arts is truly artistic — which will feature fighters from all over the world competing at a world class level.”
Of course Trump has WWE experience, although he's never been put in a position where he might muss his hair. Streep also claimed that football isn't art, and judging from the Giants' performance on Sunday she's probably right, so Roger Goodell has not responded.
UPDATE: Dana White reacted in a completely different way, having never met a high road he cared to travel. White, who gave a speech for Trump during the election, proved that he's not only terrible at diplomacy but also math, by saying this to TMZ:
"The last thing I expect is for an uppity, 80-year-old lady to be in our demographic and love mixed martial arts."
As far as I'm concerned, any day you've pissed off Dana White is a great day
