Gregg Zaun Ripped Royals Pitcher Yordano Ventura A New One On Live TV
You may have heard that things got heated between the Blue Jays and Royals yesterday. Batters got plunked, pitchers got threatened, benches got cleared, players and managers alike got tossed -- and threats got tweeted. Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura, who wasn't a part of the tense proceedings at all yesterday, took to Twitter to call out and threaten Jose Bautista in Spanish, telling him he was a "nobody" and that he would "get it" from Ventura for being "fresh."
The tweets were soon deleted. It was a beautiful example of keyboard courage, which vanished in the face of likely being told to delete those messages because they're idiotic and disrespectful and cowardly at best:
(Rough translation: “We will meet again later and if you do that with me, you’ll see what I’m about. I don’t care about anybody. I used to respect you, but you’re a nobody. … You got lucky this time, but MLB doesn’t get canceled after this season. Keep running your mouth. … You need to stop giving signs. You’re gonna get it from me for being fresh and you’re a nobody.”)
But Ventura won't get away with this that easily. Gregg Zaun, a former catcher, World Series champion and current analyst for Rogers Sportsnet absolutely went in on the young pitcher, telling him to "stop writing checks with your mouth your skinny ass can't catch," among other things.
Now that's how you threaten somebody.
