I Want This NY Islanders Karate Kid Bobblekick Figure
What does Ralph Macchio or The Karate Kid have to do with the New York Islanders? It's not the movie's anniversary anytime soon -- it was released on June 6, 1984. All I've got is that Macchio, 54, was born in Huntington, NY, which is on the north shore of Long Island.
So that's as good an excuse as any for the New York Islanders to have a "Karate Kid Bobblehead Night", scheduled for Dec. 23 game against the Sabres. The first 10,000 in attendance will get a complimentary Karate Kid doll, dressed in full Islander garb, with crane-kicking left-foot action.

Yes, the left foot shakes, just as when Daniel-san got his leg swept. Macchio, of course, is a big Islanders fan. But it's the first time the team has so honored a non-player, coach or mascot. Personally I would have preferred a wax on, wax off bobble-towel, but you can't have everything.
