Donald Trump Made Some NFL News Today, So Here He Is With With Mark Davis’ Hair
The news had nothing to do with the Oakland Raiders or their owner, Mark Davis, but we still did this, just because we felt like it. When this makeover gives you the inevitable bump in the polls, Donald, you can thank us then.
Meanwhile, in a story by Alan Rappeport of the New York Times, Trump said that he thinks the Washington NFL football team should keep its controversial nickname.
“Honestly, I don’t think they should change the name, unless the owner wanted to,” Trump said. “I know Indians that are extremely proud of that name. They think it’s a positive.”
Ha. He calls them "Indians". Keep being you, Donald.
So Trump agrees on this issue with Jeb Bush, who said last week that Washington should keep the name. Is this quickly becoming a wedge issue? President Obama and Hillary Clinton are on record as opposing the name.
In 2014, two members of Congress sent a letter to the NFL about the offensive nature of the name.
The Change the Mascot campaign, which aims to educate the public about the impact of the word “redskin,” issued the following statement on Trump’s comments:
“It is hardly surprising that a candidate who labeled Mexican immigrants rapists and calls women “pigs” now says he wants the NFL to continue slurring Native Americans. Donald Trump joins some of the NFL’s ignoble fraternity of billionaires who sit in their office suites and owners boxes happily spending their fortunes denigrating people of color.”
