In Australia, Even Teenage Girls Brawl Over Rugby Allegiances
The pervading wisdom about Australia is that everything there can kill you. Between the man-eating sharks, proliferation of deadly venomous snakes in populated areas, giant feral house cats and the ever-present chance that the sky will open up and rain down spiders, the country isn't exactly clamouring for more ways to meet a painful end.
(Seriously, it rains spiders there. No joke.)
Rugby -- more specifically, National Rugby League -- provides yet another terrifying way to incur unfathomable harm in place that would otherwise be considered paradise. And not just on the pitch...rugby fans are keen to (literally) kick the bejesus out of one another because they happen to be in the same room. Or car. Even kids do it. Crickey.
Two groups of teenage girls were filmed fighting on a train after the South Sydney Rabbitohs lost to the
Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs last Friday. The fight then spilled out onto the platform, where one girl was thrown to ground, punched repeatedly and then KICKED IN THE HEAD HARDER THAN WE'VE EVER SEEN SOMEONE GET KICKED IN THE HEAD. Though she did wind up in a hospital, there's been no word on her condition (we can't imagine that kick didn't at least leave a massive lump).
So, ya know, if you were thinking of taking the exhausting 24-hour flight to that huge island between Asia and Antarctica, plan accordingly.
