Instagram Keeps Deleting Nude Photos From Model’s Account, But She Has 1.3 Million Followers Anyway
So I guess we're past the point where aspiring models gravitate toward the big cities to start their careers.
Olya Abramovich, 26, grew up in Perm, in central Russia -- but instead of moving to Moscow to begin her career, she had a rather brilliant idea. She moved to a seaside resort, bought a bunch of bikinis, and started her career on social media.
It's working. Abramovich now has 1.3 million Instagram followers, despite having only 72 photos available on her site. That's because Instagram is deleting a lot of them -- citing nudity and sexual content. Apparently it's her own followers who are reporting the most racy of the photos and getting them taken down.
"If you really have to report my photos as nudity and pornography, please delete me from your friend list or stop following me."
And that kind of makes sense. It reminds me of the old Mad Magazine cartoon by Dave Berg, in which a woman calls the police to report a nude man next door. The woman takes the cop to one of her windows, and points to the offending house:
POLICEMAN: "I don't see any nude man over there."
WOMAN: "Here, you're not using these binoculars."
"We all have bodies and we have to be proud of them no matter what! That's not shame and I don't show anything you haven't seen before.
"It is the freedom of art and that piece of art is my body."
As to exactly where she's located, my guess is Mexico or Spain, because her Twitter page is almost entirely in Spanish.
