The major story out of the MLB Winter Meetings, yesterday, was the trade of dynamic pitcher Chris Sale over to Boston for a collection of prospects. The biggest name of the group was Cuban stud prospect Yoan Moncada who is expected to slot in at second base. Perhaps, the name that we all should get to know, however, is that of pitching prospect Michael Kopech. The big right hander has shown the ability to throw over 100 mph and has the talent to be a top of the rotation starter. He doesn’t come without baggage though.
Kopech was suspended in 2015 for a performance enhancing drug violation. He missed 50 games that season, but has dominant since he returned. Kopech’s girlfriend also happens to be a reality show star in Brielle Biermann. Biermann is the daughter of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star, Kim Zolciak and the adopted daughter of her husband, NFL player Kroy Biermann.
According to a member of the White Sox that we spoke to earlier, both Biermann and the suspension were considered when acquiring Kopech. Neither, obviously, were big enough warning signs to call of the trade.
The good news for us? A reason to learn more about “Don’t Be Tardy” star Brielle Biermann.
