Your Very Bad Idea For Thursday, Nov. 20: Mickey Rourke, 62, To Revive Boxing Career
Confession time: Angel Heart is one of my favorite movies ever. Spoiler alert: Mickey Rourke was the murderer, having been controlled by Robert DeNiro as the devil. And in real life, Rourke also seems to have been possessed by forces we do not fully understand.
Case in point: Rourke, 62, who was a successful amateur boxer in the 1960s and had a brief pro career in the '90s, is returning to the ring. And not for a movie role. He's reviving his boxing career, and will fight Elliot Seymour, 29, in Russia on Nov. 29. Seymour is 1-9 as a pro.
That's in nine days, in case you didn't know. The short lead time is to give people less of a chance to talk him out of it. Rourke, via London Daily Mail:
"Boxing is a serious part of my life. It taught me respect and determination, patience and concentration. I always dreamed of fighting a match in Russia."
Here's something you may not know: he was undefeated as a pro. Rourke was 6-0-2 with four knockouts, although he paid dearly for it, requiring facial reconstructive surgery. It did not, um, go well.
Another fun fact: he was also undefeated as an amateur boxer in the 1960s and early '70s, finishing with a 27-3 record after starting 13-0 with 7 KOs.
Rourke will be on the undercard of the Ruslan Provodnikov vs. Jose Luis Castillo main event.

Fortunately we have no reason to question Rourke's sanity.
Lol Chris Pratt said Mickey Rourke once shushed his baby on an airplane: "Like he's gonna get the baby to stop crying when the baby's>>"
