Atlanta Hawks vs. Brooklyn Nets News and Notes
The Hawks have some injuries on their bench and could face a game-time decision with starting center Clint Capela (Achilles). Reserve forward Danilo Gallinari could also be a game-time decision (foot), while forward Onyeka Okongwu (toe) will be out until January 1st along with guards Tony Snell (foot) and Kris Dunn (ankle).
As for the Nets, their championship aspirations took a hit earlier this week due to Spencer Dinwiddie’s season-ending ACL injury. Dinwiddie averaged 16.8 and 20.6 points per game in his last two seasons with the Nets. Nicolas Claxton is still a few weeks away from returning as he’s been out with a knee injury. While both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant missed the last game largely because it was a back-to-back, both are expected to be in the lineup for tonight’s contest.

Atlanta Hawks vs. Brooklyn Nets Prediction and Picks
Given some of the trends to the under in this matchup, it’s no secret that some sharp money has already targeted the under. This total opened at 240 and is already down to 238.5. Brooklyn was off to a hot start this season with blowout wins over the Warriors and Celtics, but they come into tonight’s game off consecutive losses to the Hornets and Grizzlies. With Irving and Durant back in the lineup, I’d expect the team to continue to play with high intensity on the defensive end. Brooklyn leads the league with a .958 defensive efficiency rating, and they’re third in three-point field goals allowed per game (9.5). Perimeter defense will be the key to this ballgame as the Hawks are averaging 15.7 three-point field goals per game. If the Nets can limit the Hawks to around 30 attempts behind the arc, I think this total has a good chance to stay under the number.
If I’m looking to target the under, I also think some Hawks player props are also warranted. Cam Reddish’s points prop is set at 12.5, and he’s a player who I suspect will really have to work for every shot in this game. Reddish scored double-digit points against the Bulls and the Pistons—both in the bottom half of the league, allowing opponents an effective field goal percentage of 55.3 and 55.9. Brooklyn is actually top of the league in allowing their opponents an effective field goal percentage of 45.5. I like the Nets to be able to keep him under his prop total as well.
The Picks: Hawks-Nets total under 238.5, Cam Reddish points total under 12.5
